Visit Lairg & Rogart

We’ve launched!

We’ve launched! After an idea which started at the end of 2016, here we are in October 2017 with a new website and fantastic video to promote Lairg and Rogart.

So why have we done it? Well although we’ve enjoyed a reasonable numbers of visitors to our corner of the Scottish Highlands over the years, we’ve been mindful that too many folk on the North Coast 500 route pass us by as they head north or south on the A9. And with Rogart being just 4 miles in from the A9 at The Mound and Lairg just a little further at around 14 miles, we decided we needed to do something about getting more people to take a short detour and see what we have to offer.

So what do we have to offer to the NC 500 traveller or those just wanting to explore east and central Sutherland? Well we’ve plenty of places to spend a night or two, including The Lairg Highland Hotel and Overscaig House Hotel, a wide selection of B&Bs, hostel-style accommodation but in railway carriages (see Sleeperzzz on the accommodation page), self-catering chalets and cottages, plus no less than 5 caravan and camping parks. Or if you’re just passing through and not planning to spend a night, then at the very least you can enjoy a coffee or lunch at the acclaimed Pier café and restaurant in Lairg.

We’ve also no shortage of things to see and do, with fishing, walking, bird watching, seeing salmon leap at Shin Falls, learning about the Lairg asteroid and local history of the area at The Ferrycroft Visitor Centre, or just taking in the sight of the seemingly endless length of the beautiful Loch Shin.

So do come and see us!
