Visit Lairg & Rogart

North Highland Railway

Lairg lies at the crossroads of Sutherland – and is served by trains that link Inverness with Wick and Thurso as well as buses that run to Durness in the north west, Tongue to the north, Tain to the south and Helmsdale on the east coast. For journey planning please see www.travelinescotland.com. Lairg station is 1.25m/2km from the village and some trains connect with buses into the village and beyond. Buy your ticket on the train or the bus.

Rogart is halfway between Inverness and Wick/Thurso on the railway- and the station which is a request stop (just signal to the driver) is in the centre of the village. There are also buses from Lairg to Helmsdale that call at Rogart.

Why not stay in the area and take a trip by train to magnificent Dunrobin Castle with its falconry, the distilleries at Brora (Clynelish) and Tain (Glenmorangie), the Timespan Heritage Centre at Helmsdale, the Flow Country at Forsinard or the Caithness towns of Wick and Thurso? Or stop by and take your time in Sutherland on your way to John O’Groats or Orkney.
